Being a fat burner. My weight loss update 1

This is the second installment of my bid to lose about 20kg. It has been about 12 days since I had started my new strict high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet.

My weight this morning is 99kg. The lightest I have been in many, many years. And I stink… Let me elaborate. After about 4 days on this way of eating the body runs out of it’s normal fuel (glucose). When this happens the body switches from using sugar as fuel to burning fat. This state is called Ketosis.

Urinary test strips are available to test for ketones, and to confirm that you are indeed in Ketosis. The other thing that happens is that your breath starts to smell bad. It is really bad, and I have brushed my teeth regularly with little success. I also have this foul taste in my mouth. But it is all worth it when you see the weight coming off.

Healthy paleo veggies

You can eat a healthy, nutritious, low-carb diet AND get lots of variety and flavour

I must say that it has not been that difficult as we are already on a very similar diet(paleo). I would however like to share what has been the most difficult part of eating this way.

Last Saturday I attended the Perth leg of The Paleo Way by Pete Evens and Luke Hines. What an amazing experience, but that is the subject of another post. What I do want to write about is sabotaging family members. We live about 450km from Perth, so we left for Perth on Friday, I went to The Paleo Way on Saturday, and we returned on Monday. What a disaster… What do you do when a close family member actively tries to sabotage the way you eat? Haw rude can you get to that person? Since arriving on the Friday it was a constant problem. I was offered alcohol, grains and other foods that I had to continually refuse. What part of I am not drinking alcohol,  or I am not eating any grains and high carb foods is hard to understand? And this is supposed to be a super intelligent person. All it is is extreme dis respect. Not an easy situation. Luckily my wife and I are on the same page, and the kids are on board as well. I  can only think how difficult it must be when your partner is the one resisting your efforts.  Needless to say I was very happy to leave on Monday morning. The result has also been that I ate too much protein and too little veggies, and possibly too much fruit that I am unsure if I am still in Ketosis this morning. So I have had to resort in going back to a super strict diet. Will have to see what the scales say tomorrow morning.

All I can say is that failure is not an option. In this short time I have seen amazing results(6kg weight loss) and I will not stop until successful. So I have 16kg to loose, and then I will be eating The Paleo Way which is a little more acceptable for the kids. The wonderful thing is that this way of eating is the healthy way. Scientifically proven.

All the negative press is simply about corporate greed. Eating this healthy way simply means that 95% of the products sold in a supermarket becomes irrelevant. We simply do not buy processed rubbish. And that my friends is why the corporate whores in the Dieticians organizations, Heart foundation etc. are up in arms. They support toxic rubbish foods, and they are obsolete. Their cash cow is about to die… Eat natural, healthy food and you will never see a product with a heart foundation tick again…

PS. Today is my last day of drinking coffee…All dairy products will also go in the next few days…Life is great!
